JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Gas and Oil Director General Legowo Evita said that the government was at randomly conducting quality tests on premium gasoline at refueling stations.

"We have not yet been conducting the test but are now taking samples," the director general said at a break during a working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR)’s here on Thursday.

She said that the quality testing of premium gasoline was done in cooperation with state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina. It will among other things be done at the Gas and Oil Research and Development Center (Lemigas), the director general said.

Legowo said that the government so far had a team in charge of conducting quality tests on circulating fuel oils.

"We have a team to do that job but the job is not done on a continuous basis," she said.

Legowo said that her side had decided the specification of premium gasoline with the value of 88 octanes.

"Sometimes we know we do not have gasoline of 88-octane because we have no octane 88 gasoline production, so we cover the balance with imports," she said.
